Roll: about 380   Years 7-8

Kelston Intermediate (West Auckland.)

Principal / Tumuaki  U5

E rapu ana tō tātou kura i tetahi tumuaki e tika ana, hei kōkiri i te ako ā o tātou tamariki ki tua.

Our amazing Principal is joining the Māori Achievement Collaborative (MAC) to enhance the ability of principals to lead their schools and to improve outcomes for Maori students. The new Tumuaki will be an exceptionally collaborative leader who can motivate staff and students to success.

Kelston Intermediate is experiencing considerable roll growth – from 253 in 2016 to 380 in 2021.  We have raised achievement and engagement through the development of our culturally, socially, and academically engaging graduate profile. We need an outstanding leader who can establish excellent relationships with all stakeholders, commit to genuine student voice and maintain the momentum of our journey.

We offer five bilingual classes: 2 Maori, 2 Samoan and one Tongan. ERO (2019) states, “Cultural and linguistic diversity are viewed as strengths to be nurtured and enriched.” We also have a Tamatoa class for boys and a satellite class for the Kelston Deaf Centre.

The Tumuaki must have a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and be dedicated to continuing our critically conscious, culturally sustaining learning environment and curriculum that maximises student success as it states in our Charter and Taumata.
